Anan Magazine 200205 Interview - Seventeen MINGYU

 

 

When eyes meet,

 A bond is created.

 

Including the time when we were trainees, we’ve already been together for 9 years. So right now, they're more like a family than (my real) family. ( I also) spend (my) private/personal time with the members. There were many times when Vernon and I would go out to watch movies. We both like Marvel*, and our taste in movies match really well. Then after watching, it’s fun to share our thoughts about the movie we just saw. 

 

I think the reason why the group has a good relationship is:  “there's mutual respect for each other’s thoughts and opinions”. To be honest, before, there were cases where there’s opposing opinions among the members. But now, we can admit to each other that our different opinions are not ‘wrong opinions’. Everyone is a grown-up now (laughs).

 

The moment my eyes meet with Carats, I think a bond is created between (me and) that person. So in live performances, I try to have as much eye contact as possible with the fans. I want to share many hours of happiness with Japan fans and deepen our bond from here on.

Q1: Which one do you like more: hats or glasses?

MINGYU: 眼鏡 (eyeglasses) ! I have one collection case for them. (I like) the light/simple-coloured ones the most. For sunglasses, there's the blue and the purple lenses. I think those fit me quite well (laughs).

 

Q2: In SEVENTEEN, what is it that you think you’re the best in/at?

 MINGYU: Visual? (*gets shy*)  Just kidding. It's getting along well with someone I don't know/ just met .

 

Q3: What birthday gift would you like to give to this** person?

MINGYU: (To DK) I think, earphones. Since DK likes to listen to music, I think he will like it if he receives high-quality earphones.

** The gift giving question was done in relay, by age order. So Mingyu has to think of DK, then DK has to think of Seungkwan, and so on.
